The Union Budget 2024-25 is scheduled to be presented on July 23, 2024.
Budget 2024-25: The Halwa ceremony, a traditional event marking the final phase of Union Budget preparation, was held in New Delhi on 16 July 2024. Union Minister for Finance and Corporate Affairs, Smt. Nirmala Sitharaman, and Union Minister of State for Finance, Shri Pankaj Chaudhary, graced the occasion.
This annual Halwa ceremony symbolizes the commencement of the ‘lock-in’ process for officials involved in preparing the Union Budget. The Union Budget 2024-25 is scheduled to be presented on July 23, 2024.
Following the Budget presentation, all related documents, including the Annual Financial Statement (commonly known as Budget), Demand for Grants (DG), Finance Bill, etc will be accessible via the “Union Budget Mobile App.” This app aims to provide a seamless digital experience for Members of Parliament
(MPs) and the general public. The bilingual app (English & Hindi) will be available on both Android and iOS platforms and can also be downloaded from the Union Budget Web Portal (www.indiabudget.gov.in).
The Budget documents will become available on the Mobile App once the Union Finance Minister concludes the Budget Speech in Parliament on July 23, 2024.
During the Halwa Ceremony, the Union Finance Minister, accompanied by Secretaries from the Ministry of Finance and other senior government officials involved in the Budget process, toured the Budget Press. She reviewed the preparations and extended her best wishes to the officials for their efforts.
This ceremony underscores the meticulous planning and effort that goes into the preparation of the Union Budget, reflecting the government’s commitment to a transparent and efficient financial process.
