The Consignment arrived in Bhubaneswar on Monday by air and was being transported in two vans operated by a Mumbai-based logistics company specializing in jewellery transportation.

A large consignment of gold and silver ornaments, seized by state commercial taxes and GST officials, is undergoing rigorous verification. Initial checks suggest that most of the GST invoices and bills for the gold stock are in alignment with the consignment. The cost of the gold and silver is said to be around Rs 30 crore.

According to official sources, the consignment, weighing approximately 60 kg of gold and 80 kg of silver ornaments, was being transported to various jewellery stores in Bhubaneswar and Cuttack. The gold ornaments were stored in large boxes, with their GST invoices closely matching the items. However, officials are still verifying the smaller packages containing gold.

As for the silver consignment, nearly 40% of the invoices have been verified and matched with the ornaments. The department is meticulously scrutinizing the remaining silver stock to ensure there are no discrepancies from the traders or buyers.

The jewellery arrived in Bhubaneswar on Monday by air and was being transported in two vans operated by a Mumbai-based logistics company specializing in jewellery transportation. Four individuals traveling in these vans have been detained for questioning as the investigation progresses.

Authorities are committed to ensuring that all transactions comply with GST regulations and that the entire consignment is properly accounted for before its release to the designated jewellery stores.
