E-Way Bill 2 Portal Launched with Enhanced Services for Seamless E-Way Bill Management

GSTN Advisory 499: Launching of E-Way Bill 2 Portal

In a significant development, the GSTN has announced through Advisory No. 499 that the NIC is launching the E-Way Bill 2 Portal (https://ewaybill2.gst.gov.in) on June 1, 2024. This new portal is designed to ensure high availability and operates in tandem with the primary e-way bill portal (https://ewaybillgst.gov.in). Notably, it synchronizes e-way bill details with the main portal within seconds, ensuring seamless operations.

Key Features of the E-Way Bill 2 Portal:

  1. Critical Services Availability: Initially, the E-Way Bill 2 Portal will offer essential e-way bill services, with plans to gradually incorporate additional functionalities.
  2. Independent Operations: Users can generate and update e-way bills directly on the E-Way Bill 2 Portal, independently of the main portal.
  3. Web and API Modes: The portal supports both web and API modes for accessing e-way bill services, catering to diverse user needs.
  4. Unified Login Credentials: Taxpayers and logistics operators can access the E-Way Bill 2 Portal using their existing login credentials from the main portal, ensuring a smooth transition.
  5. Fallback During Technical Issues: The E-Way Bill 2 Portal serves as a reliable alternative during technical glitches or other issues affecting the main portal, providing uninterrupted service.
  6. Criss-Cross Operations: Users can update Part-B of e-way bills across both portals interchangeably. For instance, Part-B updates for e-way bills generated on Portal 1 can be performed on Portal 2, and vice versa.
  7. Continuous Operations: If the main portal faces technical problems, Part-B updates for e-way bills created on Portal 1 can be completed on Portal 2. Users are advised to carry both e-way bill slips during such instances.
